Small Data Gets a Lifeline

It appears that all but one of the mobile operators in the USA are committed to helping the IoT ecosphere with continued support of GPRS (2G) until at least 2020. Not only that, this story indicates that T-Mobile is prepared to offer no cost financing for new 4G hardware devices as a way to help 2G device companies migrate to the modern standards.

That tells me that T-Mobile really understands what's going on with the IoT and M2M marketplace. It's a bear just to get into the field with these things and then to have to self-finance a swap out will kill most innovators in this fledgling field of dreamers.
